The Directorate General of Foreign Trade (DGFT), in a move to streamline and standardize export inputs for pharmaceutical products, has notified a new Standard Input Output Norm (SION) under the Chemical and Allied Products category (Product Code ‘A’). This development, made under the powers granted in Paragraph 1.03 of the Foreign Trade Policy (FTP) 2023, introduces SION A-3685, which specifically relates to the export of Doxycycline 100 mg Dispersible Tablets.

Effect of the Public Notice:

With the introduction of this SION entry, exporters now have a defined input-output ratio for the production and export of Doxycycline 100 mg Dispersible Tablets, ensuring clarity in the Advance Authorisation Scheme and reducing documentation ambiguity. The standardized norm facilitates easier procurement of raw materials and promotes regulatory efficiency in pharma exports.

Significance for Exporters:
  • Simplified Compliance: Enables manufacturers to obtain Advance Authorisations based on a pre-approved input-output ratio.

  • Enhanced Efficiency: Reduces time and effort involved in submitting Ad-hoc SION applications.

  • Boosts Pharma Exports: Supports pharmaceutical exporters by easing regulatory pathways for a high-demand antibiotic formulation.

Conclusion:

The fixation of SION A-3685 reflects the DGFT’s continued efforts to streamline trade processes and support India’s growing pharmaceutical exports. Exporters dealing in Doxycycline formulations can now operate with greater clarity and speed under the FTP framework.
