The government is formulating a strategy to balance exporters’ and citizens’ interests amid rising global tariffs, said the Union Minister of State for Commerce & Industry. Speaking at EEPC India’s awards ceremony, he emphasized India’s strong negotiating power with its 1.4 billion market. The government targets $118 billion in engineering goods exports for FY25. EEPC India urged steel duty exemptions for MSME exporters to maintain global competitiveness. It proposed steel pricing parity with large manufacturers and a consumption audit to prevent market leakage. These measures aim to strengthen India’s position in engineering exports.
