The Director General of Foreign Trade (DGFT) has issued an amendment to Notification No. 18/2025-26 dated 17th June 2025, under the powers conferred by Section 3 and Section 5 of the Foreign Trade (Development & Regulation) Act, 1992, read with Paragraphs 1.02 and 2.01 of the FTP 2023.

This amendment pertains to import policy conditions for select precious metal alloys—namely, Iridium, Osmium, and Ruthenium—especially when they are combined with more than 1% gold by weight.

What’s the Key Change?

The import policy conditions for two ITC (HS) codes have been revised to explicitly bring Osmium and Ruthenium alloys (in addition to Iridium) within the “Restricted” import category if they contain more than 1% gold by weight.

Previously, only Iridium alloy with gold content above 1% was restricted. The amendment now extends this condition to Osmium and Ruthenium alloys as well.
