DGFT Notifies: Port Restrictions Imposed on Certain Imports from Bangladesh to India under ITC (HS), 2022 Schedule 1

The Directorate General of Foreign Trade (DGFT), under the Ministry of Commerce & Industry, has issued a fresh notification regulating the import of additional jute-based products from Bangladesh to India. This measure is an extension of earlier restrictions imposed through Notification No. 07/2025-26 (17.05.2025) and Notification No. 21/2025-26 (27.06.2025), with immediate effect.

• Legal Basis: Issued under Section 3 & 5 of the Foreign Trade (Development & Regulation) Act, 1992, read with relevant provisions of the Foreign Trade Policy (FTP) 2023.
• Objective: To further regulate imports of specific jute and bast fibre products from Bangladesh, ensuring compliance with domestic trade policy and safeguarding domestic industry interests.

Effect of the Notification

The import of the above-listed goods from Bangladesh is now restricted exclusively to Nhava Sheva Seaport. No such imports will be permitted via land ports along the India-Bangladesh border. Other provisions of Notification No. 21/2025-26 remain unchanged.
