Amendment in Export Policy of Meat & Meat Products Notified.

In exercise of powers conferred under Section 3 read with Section 5 of the Foreign Trade (Development & Regulation) Act, 1992, and in accordance with Paragraphs 1.02 and 2.01 of the Foreign Trade Policy (FTP) 2023, as amended from time to time, the Central Government has incorporated a new Export Policy Condition No. 9 under Chapter 2, Schedule-II (Export Policy) of the ITC (HS) 2022.

As per the new condition, the export of chilled/frozen meat shall be permitted only upon submission of proof of remittance to the Meat Export Development Fund (MEDF) operated by APEDA (Agricultural and Processed Food Products Export Development Authority).

• Applicability: Applies to specific HS Codes under meat of bovine animals and edible offal categories.
• Requirement: Exporters must submit proof of remittance to the Meat Export Development Fund (MEDF) managed by APEDA before export clearance.

  • To ensure traceability and contribution to the Meat Export Development Fund.
  • To promote sectoral development and compliance within the meat export industry.
• Effective Date: The condition shall come into effect from 29th October 2025, providing a transition period for exporters.
• Regulating Authority: The notification has been issued by the Directorate General of Foreign Trade (DGFT), Ministry of Commerce & Industry.
