The Central Government has issued a fresh notification under the Foreign Trade (Development & Regulation) Act, 1992, read with the Foreign Trade Policy 2023, amending the export policy for Non-Basmati Rice under Chapter 10 of ITC (HS), 2022 – Schedule II (Export Policy).
With immediate effect, exporters of Non-Basmati Rice will be required to register their export contracts with the Agricultural and Food Products Export Development Authority (APEDA) before proceeding with shipments.

📌 Effect of the Notification
- This move introduces an additional compliance requirement for exporters of Non-Basmati Rice. While exports remain unrestricted under the “Free” category, shipments will now be permitted only upon registration of contracts with APEDA.
- The measure is aimed at ensuring greater transparency, monitoring, and traceability in rice exports, supporting the government’s larger objectives of regulating the agricultural trade sector.
