The Directorate General of Foreign Trade (DGFT), under the powers conferred by the Foreign Trade (Development & Regulation) Act, 1992, and in line with the Foreign Trade Policy (FTP) 2023, has announced an important amendment to the import policy of certain jewellery items under Chapter 71 of ITC (HS), 2022 – Schedule I (Import Policy).
This notification, issued with immediate effect and valid till 31st March 2026, changes the status of specific categories of silver jewellery from Free to Restricted.

📌 Effect of the Notification
The import policy for ITC HS codes 71131141 and 71131149 has been amended from “Free” to “Restricted.”
