The Central Government, under the Foreign Trade (Development & Regulation) Act, 1992 and in accordance with the Foreign Trade Policy 2023, has amended Notification No. 62/2015-20 dated 22nd March 2023.

This amendment introduces an additional export policy condition for Second Generation (2G) Ethanol under ITC (HS) Code 22072000. The change is effective immediately.

The amendment clarifies that 2G Ethanol, produced from cellulosic and non-food biomass, with low CO₂ emissions and high GHG reduction potential, is allowed for fuel and non-fuel purposes only with a valid Export Authorisation and feedstock certification.
