The Directorate General of Foreign Trade (DGFT), under the powers conferred by Paragraphs 1.03 and 2.04 of the Foreign Trade Policy (FTP) 2023, has officially reinstated and amended the Standard Input Output Norms (SION) bearing code C-888. This amendment reflects a significant update for exporters dealing in stainless steel washers.
Key Changes in SION C-888
| Item of Export | Quantity | Item of Import | Quantity Allowed |
|---|---|---|---|
| Small and large-size circular stainless-steel washers of different grades | 1.0 Kg | Prime / Secondary Stainless Steel sheets / Sheet cutting / Coils / Strips / Plate of relevant grade and thickness | 1.60 Kg |
Background and Effect
The SION C-888 had been suspended earlier via Public Notice No. 56 dated 14.01.2020.
With this reinstatement, exporters can once again avail input allowances under this norm, promoting smoother procurement and manufacturing processes.
The amendment ensures relevance with current industrial and trade requirements by allowing 1.6 Kg of input stainless steel material for every 1 Kg of stainless steel washers exported.
Conclusion
This reinstatement is expected to support manufacturers and exporters of stainless steel components by providing clarity and flexibility in input planning. Stakeholders are encouraged to review their supply chain and export documentation in light of this change for seamless compliance and benefit realization.
