In a continued effort to enhance data security and bring greater transparency for taxpayers, the GST Network is rolling out new system improvements specifically aimed at interactions involving Application Suvidha Providers (ASPs) and GST Suvidha Providers (GSPs).

ASPs often assist taxpayers in filing returns and managing GST compliance using APIs made available through GSPs—who act as authorized intermediaries providing secure access to the GST System.

What’s Changing?

Two major enhancements are being introduced to give taxpayers more visibility and control over their data:

  1. Real-Time OTP Consent Notifications

Taxpayers will now be instantly notified via email and SMS every time they grant access to an ASP by validating an OTP.

Notification Details Will Include:

  • Name of the ASP and its underlying GSP
  • Date and Time when OTP consent was granted
  • Validity Period of the consent

This feature ensures that taxpayers are always aware of when and how their data is accessed using the official API channels.

  1. Dashboard Control to Revoke or Review Access

The GST Common Portal is being upgraded to allow taxpayers to:

  • View both current and historical access records of ASPs and GSPs.
  • Revoke any active consents if the taxpayer no longer wants to allow API-based data access.

This functionality will be available under the taxpayer’s login on the GST portal, offering complete visibility and control.

When Will This Go Live?

The implementation date for these new features will be communicated soon through official advisories. Taxpayers are advised to keep an eye on the GST Portal for further updates.

Why This Matters

These upgrades mark a significant step towards:

  • Enhancing data security
  • Improving auditability of data access
  • Giving taxpayers full control over third-party API interactions

By building in these security checks and visibility tools, the GST System is moving towards a more secure, transparent, and taxpayer-centric digital ecosystem.
