The Central Government, in the exercise of its powers under the Foreign Trade (Development & Regulation) Act, 1992 and in accordance with the Foreign Trade Policy (FTP) 2023, has issued a significant update to the ITC (HS) 2022 Schedule-II (Export Policy). This move aligns India’s export classification codes with the legislative changes introduced by the Finance Act, 2025, dated March 29, 2025.
What’s Changed?
The notification introduces the following modifications:
- Revisions in ITC (HS) Export Codes
- A list of ITC (HS) codes that have been introduced, deleted, amended, split, or merged is now part of Annexure-I.
- These revisions reflect the structural and policy changes outlined in the Finance Act, 2025.
- Amendments in Notes & Classifications
- Updates have also been made to:
- Section Notes
- Chapter-wise Main Notes
- Sub-Heading Notes
- Supplementary Notes
- These detailed changes are outlined in Annexure-II.
- Updated ITC (HS) Now Available Online
- Stakeholders can access the revised ITC (HS) Schedule-II (Export Policy)
Purpose & Impact
This amendment ensures that India’s export classification system is harmonized with the latest fiscal policy changes. It aims to:
- Enhance regulatory transparency
- Ensure compliance with national trade laws
- Streamline export documentation and customs processes
Effective Date
The amendments come into force with immediate effect and are binding on all relevant stakeholders involved in export operations.
